Teachers Working with Children


Ages 6 weeks to 12 years

Youthland employs loving, caring individuals who desire a career in early childhood development.

Requirements:

* Upon hiring every employee must report to the corporate office to submit paperwork, complete a federal background check as well a state BCI report, watch the complete Youthland training video, pre-employment drug screening as well as receive all handbooks. Please bring at this time copies of all degrees, course work and additional related trainings as well as drivers license, references and medical statement.
* Minimum education requirements are high school diploma or equivalency.
* Complete Youthland orientation and training provided by the director and lead teacher.
* Maintain daily clipboard, which includes; attendance records, class schedule, incident report documentation, curriculum, allergy lists, and other documentation required by the director.
* Maintain class parent boards weekly.
* Attend staff meetings and in-service training.
* Practice emergency and evacuation procedures with the children.
* Speak to children in a soft, reassuring voice.
* Address behavioral problems to the director.
* Follow daily schedule and provide children with consistency and a fun, loving learning environment.

Responsibilities Include:

* Cleanliness and organization of classroom area.
* Know and practice Youthland Academy policies and state regulations and rules.
* Reporting all incidents to director.
* Speaking professionally to parents.
* Never physically or verbally punishing a child. All teachers must know and understand Youthland's discipline policy.
* Constantly using words of encouragement to help children discover self-worth and esteem.
* Maintaining sanitary conditions for the children at all times.
* Allowing children to explore through art, science, math, language, transportation play, drama, and large motor.
